The original literary version. It is much darker and serves as a strict warning; there is no rescue at the end—the wolf simply wins.
On her way, she meets a Big Bad Wolf. Naively, she tells him exactly where she is going.
In most modern versions, a woodsman or hunter arrives, cuts open the sleeping wolf, and rescues both the girl and her grandmother. 2. Notable Versions
The wolf arrives at the grandmother's house first, swallows her, and disguises himself as the grandmother to wait for the girl.
A young girl wearing a red velvet hood is sent by her mother to deliver food (usually bread, butter, or wine) to her sick grandmother who lives in the forest.
