The eighth episode of Quantum Leap's second season, titled (originally aired November 22, 1989), is widely regarded as one of the most powerful and emotional installments of the series. Plot Summary

Set on October 14, 1964, in Oakland, California, Sam Beckett leaps into , a young man with Down syndrome. Jimmy has just returned from a mental institution to live with his brother Frank, sister-in-law Connie, and nephew Corey.

This leap is deeply personal for Al, who reveals he had a younger sister named Trudy with a developmental disability. Trudy was institutionalized and died of pneumonia, a tragedy Al carries with him and uses to push Sam to succeed.

The climax occurs when an accident at the docks puts young Corey's life in danger. Sam uses CPR to save the boy, finally proving Jimmy's capability and earning the respect and love of his family and colleagues.

To bond with Corey, Sam tells him the story of Star Wars (described as a "long time ago in a galaxy far, far away") over a decade before the movie was released.

Sam's mission is to help Jimmy "mainstream" by keeping a new job on the docks and gaining the acceptance of his community. If he fails, Jimmy will be sent back to an institution for the rest of his life. Sam faces intense prejudice from a coworker named (Michael Madsen), whose own secret—dyslexia—fuels his hostility toward Jimmy.
