The Banshees of Inisherin (2022) is a dark tragicomedy written and directed by Martin McDonagh, set during the Irish Civil War, which uses the abrupt end of a friendship between two men on a remote island as an allegory for conflict and existential dread. The film, which features performances by Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, explores themes of loneliness, the pursuit of legacy, and the consequences of senseless pride.
