The project was born during the COVID-19 pandemic as a creative solution to travel restrictions. Unlike Mortemia’s debut, which relied on choirs, this series features a different high-profile female guest vocalist on every track.
The sessions are described as more melodic and diverse than Mortemia’s first album, Misere Mortem . Critics have praised the project for its contemporary excellence in symphonic gothic metal, noting how Veland tailored each song's riffs and rhythms to match the specific skills of his guest vocalists—from the energetic "My Demons and I" to the "dreamy, power ballad" vibe of "Here Comes Winter".
