Smokey And The Bandit Yify May 2026
The film served as a "clarion call" for a reimagined "New South". It portrayed the region as a fun-loving, high-spirited place, distancing it from darker historical images and instead celebrating regional pride. This cultural connection was so strong that Billy Bob Thornton once remarked that for Southerners, the film is less of a comedy and more of a "documentary". Key cultural elements that fueled its legacy include: FILM REVIEW | SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT
The 1977 action-comedy Smokey and the Bandit is much more than a high-speed chase movie; it is a cultural artifact that captured the rebellious spirit of the American 1970s. Directed by former stuntman Hal Needham, the film stars Burt Reynolds as the legendary "Bandit," who accepts a high-stakes bet to smuggle 400 cases of Coors beer from Texarkana to Atlanta in under 28 hours. Great post – I am a late-comer to the streaming of music. This is in part because I like the physicality of a CD and now, once again, and more so, the vinyl. I love to read the sleeve notes and admire the artwork.
But you make a great point regards in ‘the old days’ we effectively ‘tried and bought’ via radio and latterly tV shows. And in this respect Streaming is no different.
I have many friends in touring bands and they, at the time they would stop over at our house when on tour in this country, were dead set against streaming, for the reasons you outline.
Now it’s all change. Streaming has become a necessary evil.
Just a shame some people are getting rich off it – and it ain”t the artists.
