Inspired by her recent legal work, Lorna officially applies to return to law school. The Final Hook
The episode ends with a chilling teaser for Season 2. As Mickey returns to surfing, he is watched from the shore by a mysterious man with a on his forearm. This man is the real killer from the case that sent Jesus Menendez to prison, suggesting Mickey is now his next target.
Although Mickey successfully defends billionaire Trevor Elliott for the murder of his wife and her lover, he eventually discovers Trevor was actually guilty. Trevor used a drone to dispose of his bloody clothes and the murder weapon at sea, a detail Mickey overlooked until after the "not guilty" verdict.
Justice is delivered outside the courtroom when Trevor is gunned down during a press conference by Carol DuBois, the mother of his wife’s murdered lover. This vigilantism is referred to by Detective Griggs as a "brass verdict".
Mickey deduces that Judge Mary Holder was the one who orchestrated the murder of Jerry Vincent and bugged Mickey’s car. She and her husband ran a lucrative jury-rigging scheme, and Jerry was killed because he discovered that Juror Number 7 was a plant. Mickey uses a wiretap and the help of Detective Griggs to have her arrested.
