The hologram dissolved into pixels. The obsidian box was empty. Kael looked at his screen, seeing the lines of code that defined his life. With a steady hand, he highlighted the "Lust-Link" directory and hit delete. He didn't want the simulation anymore. He wanted to find the person who had sent the drive. A chime echoed through the room

As the sun began to bleed orange over the skyline, Elara’s form started to flicker. The drive was a one-time execution.
Kael stepped out into the humid night to retrieve it. Inside was a single silver drive labeled with a hand-etched "06." It wasn't standard company hardware. When he slotted it into his terminal, the room didn’t transform into a sprawling digital beach or a crowded club. Instead, it stayed exactly as it was, but a figure materialized on the sofa.
